10 Things You Must Do After Your Breakup
Had a breakup recently? Feel like the life is ending and this pain will consume you. Then this article is for you. Breakups happen eventually and one must get over them.
Here are 10 such things you must do after your breakup.
1. Meditation :
There is nothing more powerful than meditation when it comes to achieving peace. And after a breakup peace is all you desire. You don’t have to do some hardcore monk meditation. Just wake up early, sit in a place for 15 minutes that has sunlight and just start slow breathing.
There is a whole universe inside of you, you are a wonderful creation no matter the circumstances, no matter the grief. You might cry sometimes while sitting alone but that is actually normal. You should first let out the grief and get ready for a new journey.
While meditating you can use these any one these two videos.
You can even order a Tibetan healing bowl and start practicing. There are plenty of videos available on Youtube.
2. Hangout With Friends Or Make New Ones :
“Friends are the siblings that God never gave us.”: Mencius.
Friends were there before your relationship and they will be after it as well. Sometimes when we think we have found the magical one, we tend to give less importance to our friends, This is human nature.
But when it all shatters only our friends and family are there to support us and to see us through in life.
“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.”ˆ: Ralph Waldo Emerson
Only your friends understand you the way you should be understood. Even if you don’t want to meet your old friends try to make new ones. There will never be a day when there will be a shortage of friends. Just open your arms to other people, accept them as they are and you will have some really good friends.
3. Travel :
“To travel is to take a journey into yourself.”: Danny Kaye
Traveling leads to experience, Experience leads to knowledge, Knowledge leads to Joy and Joy is Life. Travel like you have never traveled before, see the beauty of little things, laugh a little, smile at a stranger, do something good every day and you will find your true self.
Traveling will help you to heal, the beauty of nature will inspire the beauty inside you. You can even find the answer to the ultimate question “TEA” or “COFFEE”, travel around the globe, try various shades of both the beverages and chose a side.
Sometimes the experience would be good sometimes it would be full of learning. In the end, you would come to only one conclusion that nothing is permanent not even your pain.
So go to all the places you have ever thought of, go to the places of your dreams and make stories of your life.
4. Go To The Gym, Do Yoga Or Play a Sport Of Your Choice :
Mental and physical health are more closely related than we think. One affects the other. You can do yoga, play your favorite game or can go to the gym, but one of the two activities is necessary to achieve the balance.
Whenever we engage in any physical activity our mind is not focussed on the pain that has been caused by the breakup and is fully immersed in the act itself. One more benefit of doing some physical activity is that it leads to a good sleep that is very less frequent when having a mental breakdown.
Take everything in your hands, take care of your health and love your body like should be loved.
5. Eat The Food You Like :
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”: Hippocrates
There is no problem in this world that can’t be solved with good food. Enemies become friends over a nice meal of heavenly food.Eat at your favorite food joint, follow the cuisine that you like. There are so many options available now, there is the world to chose from.
Nobody can be unhappy while eating good food, lets put this to test, Imagine your favorite dish in front of you, does it feel good ?. Eat good, Eat healthily and stay Happy.
And also sometimes people too much food while under mental stress, please avoid that.
You can try to cook your favorite food yourself and be the Masterchef for your own taste buds.
6. Plan Your Day, Plan Your Future :
Ask yourself some questions today.
What are my health goals?
What are my career goals?
What are my social goals?
What are my spiritual goals?
Write the answers on a piece of paper and make plans towards achieving them. Every morning after doing your meditation, make a to-do list for the day. The goals even if they are small they should be written and then executed before going to bed that day. Place a tick after each job you accomplish, this practice in the long run gives you the systematic approach to achieve your goals.
If the goal is big, divide it into smaller modules and milestones and make plans to achieve those milestones. There is no such thing as overnight success, you slowly and steadily progress towards it and this is how life actually works. And when you accomplish something, you would look back and smile at the time you were in pain. Pain definitely changes us, it is up to us that we come out bitter or better.
The future is bright and shiny my friend, the only thing that matters is what you believe in.
7. Follow Your Passion :
“Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion.”: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
We all have a passion in life, the reason of us being here on this planet. Try to work towards your passion, make it worth your stay. Life without passion is a river without water.
Learn a guitar, start a blog, learn a language, go hiking or learn ballet. You can follow your passion with all your heart. It is easy to get discouraged and think, why is this happening to me. We look at pieces in our lives that don’t make sense, the key here is to follow your heart, live like the way you always wanted.
So light a new fire inside you, work hard and look for new opportunities.
8. Read Books :
“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”: Walt Disney
Make it a habit of reading at least 30 – 45 minutes a day. I have a theory about reading adventure novels that when we start reading an adventure novel we kind of start relating to the main character in the story and as the character goes through the journey, faces dangers and comes out more confident, our mind subconsciously instills those characteristics in us. It is like we are the hero in our own life adventure.
Life is full of challenges. As we move through different phases in different, a little motivation can be of great help.
I would personally recommend two books to start with:
a. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
b. Eragon by Christopher Paolini
And if you don’t like reading you can download audiobooks and listen to them before going to sleep.
9. Love Yourself :
Love yourself because you will always be by your side no matter what. Treat yourself when you accomplish something and remember acceptance starts with the self. Accept yourself and start loving yourself the way you are (absolutely perfect). Sometimes when we are going through the pain there is certain bitterness in us and we blame ourselves for the action of others, which is not at all good for self-happiness. Imagine what your life would look like if you believed in your worth and dedicate your life to loving you. Make it your main reason for your waking up win the morning.
“Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself, that’s when you’re most beautiful.” : Zoe Kravitz
10. Have Hope :
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” : Martin Luther King, Jr.
You must have hope that one day everything will be alright, no miracle is going to happen if you don’t have hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel my friend, it will just take a little bit longer because great joy takes time. Grow through your pain but never lose hope, the universe has a plan for you. You are special and always will be, nothing should change that. No heartbreak is that big that you should lose hope.
When hope is lost everything is lost, so hold on tight the ride might be a little bumpy but there is a beautiful beach at the end.
Everything said and done, no article, no meditation, no yoga nothing can help you if you don’t help yourself. If you want to get better then only the help matters.
Start by forgiving the person, it would the most important step you take.
And Do Remember,
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong“.: Mahatma Gandhi
Stay strong, be your own friend.
Love yourself and shine like a star.
